Cloud9 vs Vitality
|
The haves vs the have-nots
|
|
What’s better?
The best AWPer in the world, or no AWPer at all?
That’s the question that’s being asked in Cloud9 vs Vitality. Boombl4 has taken up the mantle of AWPing on an otherwise dysfunctional Cloud9 team, but he’s now having to go mano-a-mano with ZywOo.
Great AWPers have fallen at the feet of The Game - but maybe that’s the trick.
Maybe the trick to beating ZywOo is to just not AWP like a normal person.
That’s what Cloud9 will be hoping. In truth, this is a more beatable Vitality than we’ve seen in a while. The mezii and flameZ moves were fantastic on paper, but replacing serial winners dupreeh and Magisk has turned out to be very difficult.
Quelle surprise.
They’re still fantastic, and they’re still probably favoured - but Cloud9 are dangerous in ways that are hard to articulate. They have incredible depth in the roster and some superb pieces, but they don’t really all fit together every time.
When they do, though, they’re dynamite. Both teams are capable of smashing the other if things fall in place, they just seem to fall in place more often for Vitality.
Are you willing to bet against ZywOo?
Are you willing to bet against electronic?

The Great Comeback
|
A bowl of brazilian stew
|
|
Now, this is something we did not have on our Rostermania bingo card.
In a rather surprising move, following the benching of coldzera, Legacy is set to trial Stewie2K throughout April.
In his own words: ‘Sup bitch!’
Once considered NA’s brightest star, Stewie’s journey has been a wild ride: He won NA’s first Major with Cloud9 on home turf, shared the stage with Brazilian legends in SK and MIBR, grabbed a Grand Slam and multiple tier-one events with Team Liquid, and ended his first venture in competitive CS with a turbulent period in Evil Geniuses, tainted by controversies and a toxic atmosphere.
With all of that behind him, Stew is now back and hungrier than ever. He has spent the last few months grinding the hell out of FACEIT on Twitch, getting ready for his next opportunity.
Well, it has finally arrived, just not in the way we were expecting. And likely not for Stewie either.
“I look at this Legacy team and I see a lot of young players with a lot of talent and not enough experience. I don’t think there is enough experience and hopefully I can bring that”, Stewie explained in one of his streams.
The move comes after Legacy managed to pulled off a surprisingly strong performance in the Major’s Opening Stage, singlehandedly wrecking pretty much everyone’s Pick’Ems, with wins against FURIA and Apeks.
Please respect our pain, we’re still mourning the Diamond Coin.
coldzera seems to feel like he deserves a better team, as he has been moved to the bench by mutual agreement, with the AWPer now searching for new opportunities and greener pastures.
We can’t help but question Legacy’s decision. Swapping an AWPer for a rifler? Introducing an English-speaking player into a team of 4 Brazilians? It’s certainly a head-scratcher.
Will this turn out to be a NIP management-level decision? Only time will tell.

FaZe vs Spirit
|
Spirit’s evil masterplan
|
|
Oh, now we’re bloody talking.
Look, Team Spirit have to be favourites. Not for this game, but for the tournament. This is Team Spirit’s Major to lose. It’s donk’s trophy to give away. It’s theirs, and if they want it, it will stay theirs.
However…
If there’s one team out there you wouldn’t want to play as an underdog… if there’s one team that can topple a Goliath on the stage… if there’s one team that can come back from the brink in the Royal Arena and beat an inexperienced but talented team, it’s FaZe Clan.
FaZe aren’t at their best. They’re not the great, hulking beast that trampled on everyone in 2022. They’re not the team that had a classic with Team Spirit in 2022 - but they are a dangerous, terrifying wounded animal.
Spirit are almost certainly the best team in the world at this moment in time, but FaZe Clan as underdogs are frightening beyond belief - especially on a stage, especially against a young team.
karrigan is going to stand up and do the clap, and Spirit will have to stand tall and deny him his crowning moment in Copenhagen.
This is their first chance to be a super-villain. This is where stories are written.
Are you ready, Team Spirit?

We’ve talked about it before but we just wanted to stress again how much we appreciate STYKO for his work on putting mental health on the esports agenda.

There’s nothing more wholesome than naming your dogs after the two worst weapons in the game, pasha.
