FURIA are having another Fall purple patch as they won their second tournament row at PGL Masters Bucharest
FURIA are the champions of PGL Masters Bucharest after beating Nemiga 3-2 in the grand final.
A more difficult game than it probably should've been, Nemiga opened the series with a dominant 13-2 victory on Ancient, before FURIA turned it around on the next two maps.
YEKINDAR earned his first HLTV MVP Award for his efforts in Romania, ending the tournament on an impressive 1.27 rating. The trophy also became the 20th of FalleN's illustrious career, and has added more confidence that it might not be his last.
Does this trophy actually matter?
The weird thing about the two trophies FURIA have won is that it's really hard to actually tell if they're worth anything at all.
Obviously there's value in winning a trophy, and the confidence boost that comes from it will mean a lot in the bigger events that are coming up, but let's not forget their two grand finals opponents have been BETBOOM and Nemiga. These are two opponents you'd expect FURIA would brush aside with easy in such a high intensity game, but both went to all five maps.
One rather alarming issue is the form of molodoy in finals this year. In 2025, FURIA could always rely on their mercuiral AWPer to have big impact when it mattered most, but this year his form has completely evaporated in the biggest games.
That's not to say there aren't positive, though. yuurih is find much more impact again, and YEKINDAR also looks fired up to send FalleN off with a bang. Both of these players were also key to the late-2025 run, but the form of an AWPer when you come up against the likes of ZywOo and m0NESY is important - especially when you consider molodoy's AWPer-hunting playstyle.
The most reassuring part about FURIA's run in Bucharest is that they beat MOUZ in the semi-finals. MOUZ made mistakes, sure, hunting a player with a pistol and giving up an AK isn't their finest moment, but MOUZ have had legit results recently, and beating them does reignite confidence that FURIA aren't hopeless against rhe world's best.
Whether or not this translates into the Major is yet to see, but we hope it does. Even if FURIA don't go on to win in Singapore, having them be at their best for that tournament is what Counter-Strike needs - and it will actually make the Major worth ruining your sleep pattern for.
