Team Acquisition
Years after selling off part of the org, Jason Lake has reacquired Complexity! For the second time.
After rumours emerged of GameSquare – Complexity’s (ex-)majority owner – being interested in buying FaZe, alarm bells went off in the scene. One of the two teams would most likely have to cut their CS team to avoid a conflict of interest, so the American side must’ve started sweating.
Fortunately for them, shortly after hearing the news, Jason Lake started looking for investors to buy Complexity back. And now, a little over two months later, that deal is done for a casual ~$10 Million.
And it was right on time as well.
The GameSquare FaZe Clan deal is just a few weeks away from completion. That deal would also put one of FaZe’s founding members in charge as its CEO, FaZe Banks. For context as to how that’s going: he’s already fired everyone (and he’s not joking). We just hope it doesn’t include the CS2 team.
This is probably the best-case scenario for both sides. Complexity gets to stay around with an owner who cares about the team and not purely profit. FaZe gets to try and fix its image and become a real company that doesn’t look like a meme stock. For 18 cents a share, we’re pretty sure we could’ve bought the company.
