The MongolZ roster update
Just a few days after losing mzinho to BC.Game - a move we’re still scratching our heads over, by the way - The MongolZ have decided to shake things up even further by benching cobrazera.
First off, you’ve got to feel for the kid. He was handed the impossible task of filling Senzu’s shoes, and it’s not like he did terribly. During his six-month stint with the team, he posted a respectable 1.02 rating, and it always felt like there was still room for him to grow if given more time.
Now, with two vacancies to fill, you’d think The MongolZ might consider scouting beyond their borders. We genuinely aren’t convinced there’s enough domestic talent available to replace two key players without taking a significant step backwards. Apparently, though, maaraa is a firm believer in taking one step backwards to (maybe) take two steps forward.
We’re not nearly as convinced.
The org has signed 17-yeard-old tikuak and 18-year-old DarkMeister to complete the lineup, and we’d be lying if we said either name was on our radar. That said, the consensus around the scene is that they are the future of Mongolian CS.
In TikTok’s case, it’s easy to see why. He has a decent sample size to judge him by, and he looks ready to take the leap. He’s been the standout player for Chinggis Warriors - albeit against mostly regional opposition - and has earned his chance.
Mongolian olofmeister, on the other hand, is a much bigger question mark. The academy graduate arrives with just four HLTV maps under his belt, and they weren’t exactly confidence-inspiring.
The truth is, maaRaa has earned himself the benefit of the doubt. Over the past few years, he’s proven he can take raw talent and mold it into tier 1 players, but this might just be his biggest challenge yet. We fear these moves will see The MongolZ slide down the rankings over the coming season, and it would be a real shame to watch one of the last great national rosters slowly fade away.
Please prove us wrong, MongolZ.
