The birds of prey look set to swoop on everyone’s best.

Edition #406 | oct 9th, 2023
ELiGE put Team Liquid to the sword, HObbit is reborn as a leader of men and might zonic be coaching the next super team?
We also found a theory as to why cadiaN was removed from Heroic, courtesy of olofmeister.
Let's dive in.

BLAST Showdown NA

You ever see your ex with her new boyfriend, and you tell her “ha! You haven’t upgraded at all!” before he beats the everloving VALORANT out of you?
Just us?
Well, at least Team Liquid have that in common with us.
The final qualifying game for BLAST Premier Fall came down to Liquid vs Complexity over in North America, which was built up as ELiGE’s first game against Team Liquid since leaving. Liquid, of course, were in the middle of their own little rebuild, with YEKINDAR IGLing for the last time.
Well, there’s probably good reason he’s not going to IGL anymore — and potentially just as much reason to not have daps as a fragger.
Complexity absolutely dropkicked Team Liquid off of the roof. Straight up hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby type beat. Jimi Hendrix vs Captain Hook on Guitar Hero, expert difficulty. Through The Fire and Flames, obviously.
While we might have smack-talked YEKINDAR’s in-game leading, he was the only one doing anything on Anubis — Liquid flatlined, despite the Latvian’s best attempts at resuscitation. Liquid picked up four CT rounds and zero T rounds.
Still, that was Complexity’s pick. It’s not like Liquid would only get four rounds on Inferno.
That, actually, was true.
They got two.
YEKINDAR dropped all the way to the bottom of the leaderboard - below daps - and led his team to two T rounds out of fifteen. Or more accurately, 2/20 for the series.
daps has his work cut out as a leader and as a player. He got 12 kills over the series as Complexity battered Liquid black and blue and earned their spot at the BLAST Premier Fall Final.
BLAST Fall Showdown EU
Hands up — who thought Cloud9 would rule the world after signing electroNic and Perfecto?
There are more than a few in our own (virtual) newsroom who are meekly doing so, we’ll tell you that for free.
But their slow start has already resulted in a change of IGL, with HObbit taking over from electroNic.
Perfecto said that electroNic wanted to go back to being the “beast”, the “old electroNic” we know.
Given how far HObbit’s individual form has gone down the toilet, he was the natural replacement.
He was already part of the leadership group with sh1ro and groove, and we all know captains get a pass for poor fragging. It’s a perfect solution and one that is far cheaper than spending 500k on Boombl4.
It’s sink or swim, but HObbit has his lycra cap and goggles on.
Cloud9 marched past Riders, G2, and then BIG in the Showdown in the best showing the ‘superteam’ has provided so far. They even had a 67.0% win rate on T side. Just don’t look at their flash assists.
Showdown isn’t the biggest event. It’s not even on LAN.
But, if all goes well, it’s one of the small building blocks that Cloud9 can look back on and point to as a turning point.
It’s not much — but it is something. The HObbit era is underway.
Falcons superteam?

It’s only been a few days since we shared the news of Falcons signing zonic, and now we're back with some new spicy rumours.
KRL, who also broke the zonic story, has another Falcons scoop.
It seems the team has set their sights on Twistzz plus the two samurais NiKo and m0NESY. With Magisk and Dupreeh also rumoured to join, we're beginning to see a damn good picture of what they’re trying to build: A Saudi superteam.
ICYMI, Falcons are Saudi-owned, and we can't think of any other lineup that screams oil money quite like this. If the rumours hold up, Counter-Strike seems to join other sports, such as football, golf, and F1 as arenas where The Kingdom has invested heavily to improve its image - also known as sportswashing.
A combined rumoured Falcons roster could be:
🇧🇦 NiKo
🇷🇺 m0NESY
🇨🇦 Twistzz
🇩🇰 Magisk
🇩🇰 Dupreeh
🇩🇰 zonic (coach)
Before we forget, it also looks like Vitality has found zonic’s replacement already… the guy zonic originally replaced.
Lord Voldemort himself, XTQZZZ, is probably returning to Vitality. TSM has released him from his contract as he “has expressed his desire to leave the project.” It’s a bit anti-climactic for TSM to have XTQZZZ leave this early after all the drama just two months ago when he threatened to leave even before he had joined.
Anyway, who cares about XTQZZZ or Vitality.
If Falcons get the players they want, it’s over for us all. But we also said the same about Cloud9.
