Pros complain about CS2
There’s an old adage that says the real marriage doesn’t begin until the honeymoon is over.
Well, there isn’t. But for the sake of this piece, pretend there is.
The honeymoon period is coming to a close, the first LAN games are being played, the dice have been cast; and pros aren’t all that happy with their arranged union.
Alright, it’s not all bad - but when you’ve got headlines like "MR12 is a horrible tactical change and it dumbs down Counter-Strike” coming from players as respected as Snappi, it’s not looking good.
Snappi’s not particularly happier that fewer rounds gives players like him less time to adapt to the opposition, and that’s understandable - IGLs are usually judged by how they solve problems, and few are better than he is.
floppy told us all that the game ‘doesn’t feel as rewarding’ despite Complexity’s good fortunes on the new game, including a quote that said it feels like ‘rolling dice’. We don’t want to keep being horrible to North America, but saying that just before your first good result…
NiKo isn’t feeling ‘the best individually’, which isn’t a good sign when the game is supposed to reward tapping and first bullet accuracy, while Twistzz is suggesting pros should be a little less moany.
He then bemoaned the new peeker’s advantage, so he’s not immune to it - he just doesn’t want pros to be quite so unconstructive.
So, erm… it’s been a rough release. Things can only get better, right?
It’s not like Valve are patching out stuff that people are finding to be helpful, or anything.
BLAST Spring

Rejoice UK CS fans! Counter-Strike is coming to the King’s domain courtesy of BLAST.
BLAST Spring Final 2024 will be held at the 12,000 seater OVO Arena Wembley between the 12th and 16th of June.
If the OVO Arena sounds somewhat familiar, it’s because every big CS event to visit the UK has been held here. All the way back to ECS S1 where ScreaM and Shox made light work of major champions Luminosity.
Most recently it was the venue of the FACEIT Major in 2018, where a baby ZywOo made his stage debut. If you're down for a nostalgia trip TravCS’ thread of all the events held at the OVO is worth a click.
You can tell it’s been five years since the last big UK event because the community is absolutely buzzing. A run-of-the-mill BLAST event has got everyone from the director of Falcons Esports, Anders, and Ne0kai excited. Your move ESL. IEM Birmingham when?
So, if you’re one of the many hyped brits or just a traveling fan of Counter-Strike, tickets will be on pre-sale for BLAST.tv members starting Wednesday, October 25th. Live Nation pre-sale starts on the 26th and for the rest of us, the general sale is on the 27th.
Podcast

It’s only a rumour, so it didn’t deserve a full story just yet - but that headline isn’t completely clickbaity.
There’s a rumour that cadiaN to Liquid is happening, and we discussed it on this week’s podcast. So you should click for our deep analys... well, our opinions. Maybe it is clickbait after all.

IEM Sydney Playoffs

Complexity are an organization steeped in North American CS history.
From 1.6 with Jason Lake in his red tie to Hiko and n0thing at the start of GO, and now to EliGE and Grim in CS2, Complexity are Counter-Strike heritage. Just ignore the blameF team.
And they have kicked off the new game with a bang, slapping down Cloud9 and Monte to qualify for playoffs at IEM Sydney.
It’s a third good result in their last three events, making playoffs at EPL, qualifying for BLAST Fall Final, and now their first arena event in god knows how long.
They’re joined in playoffs by the usual suspects: FaZe, MOUZ, G2, ENCE, and… BetBoom?
Yes, BetBoom. You didn’t think the first CS2 LAN would run to script, did you?
So while Ax1Le and sh1ro were eliminated by Complexity, nafany will be leading his new troops out into the Aussie arena early tomorrow morning. He’s even won round arch-rival Mauisnake.
He’ll now clash with Complexity, the two surprises of the groups fighting for the right to get destroyed by a resurgent G2 that has m0NESY on a 1.44 rating and NiKo on a 1.28
Rather them than us, that’s for sure.
