NIP remove hampus
If you think NIP removing hampus is going to be the wildest turn on this rollercoaster, you’re in for a hell of a time.
This is the rise before the 70mph fall.
Having waited months for hampus to return from his break, NIP removed Aleksib in order to bring him back in to a leadership role. After they’d signed Aleksib to move hampus out of the leadership role, obviously.
Now, just a few months later, they’re removing hampus to put in es3tag into the IGL role, at least temporarily. It’s not that hampus has been fantastic since his return, it’s just… we’re not sure es3tag is any better.
The good news is, then, that NIP are actively looking for a new IGL and supposedly are quite close. We’ve heard a murmur, and… well, it’s not who you’d expect. A good player, but about as far away from Sweden as you can get in Europe.
Oh, and Brollan isn’t playing right now either.
maxster is standing in for him, but there doesn’t seem to be any timeline for him coming back or any news as to his permanent departure from the team. We expect es3tag will stay, and Brollan will move to the bench.
NIP are very much not Swedish, nowadays. We’ll see what else THREAT has up his sleeve.

sh1ro steps down from Cloud9
Cloud9 saw what Heroic was cooking and said “hold my non-alcoholic beer”.
As if this season's rostermania hadn’t had enough twists and turns, the NA org just announced that sh1ro will be stepping down from the active lineup of Cloud9…
With no reason given for this decision, we can only assume that a statement will drop in a few days in which Ax1Le and HObbit “were pushing to replace him”… or maybe three months without nafany was too much to handle? (don’t get the joke? keep on reading until you hit the Heroic story)
In all seriousness, Cloud9 need a fix and they need it fast.
Rumours have surfaced that Boombl4 will join but it’s not really a direct role swap so should we expect more changes in the near future?
Even if the Boombl4 rumour is true it still leaves them without an AWP and realistically there isn’t really anyone that could replace the impact sh1ro had within Cloud9 on that role but there is one guy… maybe. (again, keep reading)
But where is sh1ro hoping to head?

Heroic roster drama
When Kasabian sang ‘I’m on fiiiire doo doo doo doodoodoodoodoodoo’, they were actually singing about being Heroic in October 2023.
Let’s start with some good news - Heroic announced the signing of dupreeh, albeit only until the end of the year. You might be thinking that that is only two months, and you would be right.
We don’t have any explanation, we’re just aware you might be thinking that.
If anyone can teach Heroic to win, though, it’s the man who has won everything there is to win. dupreeh doesn’t choke playoffs, ever.
And then, the napalm strikes.
Heroic announced via their Twitter that stavn and jabbi were being moved to the bench. Why?
Oh, baby. Strap in.
After supposedly being part of an ultimatum where the org had to choose between cadiaN and the rest of the team re-signing contracts, jabbi and stavn apparently told Heroic ‘lol bee-tee-dubs we’re off to Astralis in ten months’.
Heroic ended the statement with a barbed jab at Astralis, suggesting that the pair were available for transfer to an org with a ‘professional approach and an understanding of [their] players’ market value’.
Slay queens.
They’ve also suggested that the pair could return, but if we were them, we’d be very petty. Make sure they miss the Major in Copenhagen.
Mind you, Heroic probably need the money.
In the meantime, they’ve borrowed a couple of kids from MOUZ’ academy team to stand-in… and they still managed to beat Aurora.
All’s well that ends well.
NAVI’s goat on the bench
Counter-Strike will enter its new era without its GOAT after s1mple announced he will take a break from competition.
It’s a long time coming — there were rumours about him burning out as early as mid-2022, and his less-than-enthusiastic response to CS2’s release re-sparked the possibility of a stint on the sidelines.
Difficulties securing a Polish visa (and thus the ability to leave the EU) only made it more likely.
And so his watch has ended with a personal announcement on Twitter.
In his place, HLTV say NAVI want fellow Ukrainian sniper w0nderful, who has a 1.30 rating in the last three months and has been tearing it up for Sprout.
harum1 said they wanted YEKINDAR for iM too, but Liquid have this thing called a “contract,” so, unlucky punks. How’s your international team today, dickheads?
I mean come on: Just imagine showing this roster to someone after PGL Stockholm.
Replacing s1mple is a terrifying prospect, but to be honest, w0nderful has shown more than s1mple himself in the last six months.
Old Oleksandr is still very good, don’t get us wrong. But are you as scared of s1mple as you were for the last seven years? His peak was unprecedented, a level higher than anyone will likely ever hit, and for longer too. But all good things come to an end.
Not that this needs to be the end, of course.
On paper it’s a well-earned break and nothing more — a lot has gone on outside of the game, after all. Even the most sceptical fan cannot question his right to a break.
In his statement he slightly opened himself up to leaving NAVI — cue Falcons — and “maybe on the rifle” too, but nothing is decided yet.
What is certain is that Counter-Strike would be worse without him. Let’s hope his mouse and keyboard won’t get too dusty.
