We weren’t even aware he was still ruling.

Nivera has returned back home, Richard Lewis has also made a triumphant return and the Major starts this weekend. The real Major. How blessed.
What’s a Major without the pundits and commentators guiding you through
Well, still the Major, but you catch our drift.
And PGL have thrown some wrenches in the works.
Richard Lewis, for the first time since PGL threw a wrench in the works in 2021, is back as the desk host.
Since then, he’s launched his own Substack, broken the news of CS2’s impending release, won the 2023 Esports Journalist of the Year, promised to retire at some point, and probably blocked a not insignificant portion of you all reading this on Twitter.
But it’s easy to forget, in all the controversy and wars declared on r/globaloffensive, that Lewis is exceptional at his job. He’s also defended Valve and CS2 since release, whether it comes to VAC or MR12.
The other host, sjokz, of League fame, is also excellent. But it does mean that Freya, the best endemic CS host of the last few years for us, will miss out — which is a huge shame.
There’s more big absentees on the desk, with YNk and Mauisnake also snubbed.
But it’s still a huge team, of very talented people.
Harry and Hugo are back. Top duos Machine-SPUNJ and Scrawny-Launders, too. Anders, the voice of Counter-Strike, will get to commentate the first Danish Major with HenryG.
PGL spent a whopping $850,000 on talent fees for the RMR and Major. But there’s no doubt it’s worth it.

Nivera just couldn’t stay away from the best FPS in town.
We wouldn’t call it the return of the prodigal son, but we’re happy that ScreaM’s little brother is back.
Having terminated his contract with Karmine Corp, the hybrid AWPer has become a free agent, and is now open to signing with any organization.
After a relatively successful two-year stint in Riot’s FPS, representing the likes of Team Liquid and KC, the 22-year-old finally came to his senses and realized CS is the superior game. We agree.
The Belgian player joins a short (but noteworthy) group of former CS pros who decided to take a ride in the FPS genre’s new shiny toy, only to return to Gaben’s warm embrace. nitr0, autimatic, and daps, we’re looking at you.
Nivera admitted to HLTV that he just “couldn’t focus” on Valorant with “another game” in his mind. I mean, we get it, we are all familiar with that ropz-like ex, always lurking around, causing trouble.
On another note, maybe he can convince his brother to come back as well. We sure miss those one-taps.
Additionally, this week saw a fair bit of activity in the pre-major shuffle, mainly among teams who didn’t snag a spot in Copenhagen.
After the benchings of misutaaa, Bymas, and coach Juve, Into the Breach’s management decided to transfer list rallen and CRUC1AL, due to the loss of sponsors. For similar reasons, Godsent also announced the release of their roster.
Tough times for non-Major organizations.

We’ve gone Major mad. Join Logan and aizyesque as they dissect every match-up and give you the cheat sheet for a gold coin. Probably.

After eight years of service, Xyp9x has left Astralis. Honestly, we thought he was gone already.
Yet another piece of the legendary roster of yesteryear is gone, and this one really felt like it was a long time coming. Almost a year ago, Xyp9x was moved down to Astralis’ academy team, only to be benched that summer. Normally, we’d joke about that as a failure, but for Xyp9x, that just meant he got to kick back with years of free pay-checks, thanks to his lengthycontract.
If you clicked the link, you might’ve noticed that announcement said he’d be with Astralis until 2025. But we’re pretty sure it’s still 2024, so what’s up?
Well, it looks like someone has come in for Ol’ Clutch Minister after all. We just don’t know who.
Xyp says in his statement he’s about to "embark on a new project filled with promise and potential,” but god knows what that means. Is he playing for someone else? Becoming a coach? Selling off-brand designer drugs in Amsterdam? We haven’t a clue.
You have to hope it’s a coaching role, he has all the experience you could possibly want out of a coaching figure. This unsourced, totally real trust us bro, Tweet even says he’ll be an assistant at MOUZ! Look, it’s all we’ve got. and we thought it was funny.
We’re on our knees for it to be true though.
Returning as a player would be an unmitigated disaster that could only make his legacy worse. Xyp9x if you’re reading this, feel free to prove us wrong.
Who knows, maybe he can clutch his career.
‘Twas the Friday before the Major, in Copenhagen, not a single NIP player was stirring.
The bloody Major starts this weekend (!), and we’ve gone Major mad. The stickers are almost here, Pick’ems are live (and you better have TheMongolz going through or we will be having words) and the mania is setting in.
Make sure you set your alarms early on Saturday night, and go out and get everything you need for Sunday. Snacks, coffee, meal prep and all your errands done before Sunday so you can sit at your PC and absorb every second of the Major.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Cloud9 start off playing against ECSTATIC in their home country, but we’ll be largely focused on Eternal Fire and Mongolz. That’s a banger. Eternal Fire are in fantastic form, but TheMongolz are a perennial surprise package.
Imperial and paiN both come out of Brazil to face tough starts - with ENCE and Apeks respectively. There’s a bit of a lull around 3pm, with 9Pandas taking on AMKAL and HEROIC probably putting the hurt on Lynn Vision.
Then we’ve got some lovely derby games, though.
FURIA vs Legacy is FalleN vs coldzera AWPing against each other, which is enough to have us intrigued, which SAW vs KOI is a Iberian derby. Very, very spicy.
SAW, though, are in irresistible form, and we think they might have the edge.
Then we get another set of BO1s before hearts even start breaking. God, we are blessed. What a day, what a fortnight, what a blessing it is to be alive.
