Better than Xmas. The first CS2 Major final.

You're probably all caught up, because who would miss the semis of the first CS2 major?!
Anyway, there's room for everyone in this community (except scummy gambling sites), so here's your TL;DR.
And a warm welcome to all of you who signed up after seeing the mag 👋

karrigan came to Copenhagen with a vengeance, and he’s not stopping any time soon.
This time it was Vitality in his sights, and he called a magnificent third map to move FaZe Clan onto the final, and put himself within touching distance of hometown glory.
FaZe sliced through Vitality with consummate ease on Nuke to collect nine T rounds, and the few they dropped were sketchy - a loss to pistols as they came up the vent into one guy and lost all three, for example.
It felt inevitable that FaZe would go on to win at that point, but when karrigan’s map pool gamble to let Vertigo through seemed to backfire, it was in jeopardy.
mezii and Spinx found gaps over and over again to push Vitality into a ridiculous T side lead, and they sauntered over the finish line to set up a map three decider.
And it ended on Inferno.
It was a tight first half that set up a potentially legendary second half, but FaZe seemed to pull away. That was until Vitality traded out two-for-one on the B site, and though rain found a quick equaliser, FaZe saved, and Vitality quickly overwhelmed on the next round.
Game on - but that’s when FaZe stand up.
karrigan quickly shifted the gameplan into a Banana-focused approach, and apEX and mezii quickly found themselves getting stuck behind logs on fire, and under fire.
ropz outsmarted three from the porch position to win a crucial round, and at 11-8 karrigan called a quick rotate to A after trading equally on Banana, and it worked a treat as Vitality walked into a stack.
The leader looked to the camera and pointed to his brain - if it wasn’t over at that point, it was shortly after when he flew down Banana with an MP9 to get the opener, and frozen transferred onto two through the smoke to put FaZe in an unassailable position.
karrigan - and FaZe - are in the Grand Final. And there’s no doubt who the arena is routing for.

The Major trophy demands you stand up when it matters, and stand up jL did.
The floppy-haired, baby-faced, slightly doe-eyed gangster took map three by the balls and twisted ‘til G2 relented.
G2 were in charge from the start on Ancient, but it was the Lithuanian who quickly turned the tide with a Deagle round much akin to those of NiKo’s yesteryears - who was notably absent in the whole series.
His whiffed spray from Long B ended up mattering big time, and he and HooXi took a risk to double-peel down Ramp in round 24 that immediately backfired - but it wasn’t just him.
huNter- did very little to write home about, and nexa noticeably struggled in map three - but m0NESY couldn’t really have done much more. He went 18-5 in opening duels and went 65-42 in the series.
m0NESY even 360 onetapped Aleksib in the first round of map three of a Major semi-final. He’s absolutely ridiculous. The fact that he didn’t win this series is an indictment of quite how far off the pace the Kovac pair were yesterday.
The only person who came close was the aforementioned jL - who was absolutely destroying the NAVI T side, especially on map three, but truthfully was excellent the whole series.
No, not the whole series. The whole tournament. He’s been great.
NAVI are in the grand final. iM is in his second in a row. Still doubting him?

Friday’s biggest losers are starting to find out. They shouldn’t have fucked around.
For those who aren’t entirely sure what we’re referring to, let’s catch you up real quick:
During Friday’s game between G2 and MOUZ, a few attendees, paid by a skin gambling site, rushed the stage to “protest” a different skin gambling site that sponsors G2. Something something, pots and kettles.
The “protestors” were quickly taken down by security (and G2’s manager), but not before the Major trophy took a tumble and broke. Fortunately, Pasha made sure to show us a fixed trophy before the semi-finals started yesterday!
Now, we don’t want to give these clowns any more attention, but the backlash from our amazing community to their stupid stunt has been enormous.
The website behind the rush was supposed to organise an event of its own, but after this, all the teams have started to pull out. Some like Nexus Gaming are taking the more tactful approach, but we like the approach the SINNER’s CEO took:
Teams weren’t the only ones mad, the entire CS fan base seemed to unite in their efforts to hate on these guys. Yet somehow that didn’t deter them from trying something dumb again. You’d think the massively heightened security would be enough on its own.
Another guy involved with the website tried to chain himself to a barrier during the semis. Fortunately, he doesn’t seem to understand the concept of movable barriers.
Our own team onsite also saw them trying to setup a large banner outside the arena. However, the amazing fans walking to the arena, would run over, grab parts of it and toss it over to the Royal Arena security, putting a stopper to that plan. GJ guys.
It’s a massive shame a small group of people had to ruin how open our scene has been for the last few years. Being able to get close to the players is something Esports has always had over traditional sports, and that might be over now.
On the bright side, PGL is pressing charges against everyone involved. Oh, and how good has this first CS2 Major been?

NAVI have grinded their way to rise up and face FaZe Clan, a team powered by magic, dreams and the screams of Danish children inside the Royal Arena.
In truth, it feels like an insurmountable task for Aleksib's revenge tour.
FaZe feel impervious to punches - an iron chin atop a chiselled super-corpse, with serious plot armour on top of it. But NAVI are here on merit too.
jL has been consistently ridiculous on the stage, and iM is in his second. w0nderful has shown himself to be one of the breakout stars here - genuinely a superstar, and maybe one of the best couple of AWPers in the world.
NAVI weren't expected to be here, but now they are, they’ve proven themselves to be among giants. Or at least, giant killers.
In front of them sits a leviathan, a titan with his chestplate scratched but unpunctured.
Welcome to the PGL Copenhagen Major Final. Strap in.
