And MOUZ’ hearts were broken.

G2 have multiple problems (but you’re only allowed to pick one), MOUZ are almost there and Denmark’s new favourite sons have a new home.
We’ve got a really tough question for you this morning.
Who is the problem on G2?
It’s a tough question, for more than one reason. One, because pinning down a single ‘problem’ is a bit trite, two, because even if there was just one problem, it could be any of the four players not called m0NESY, and three because they’re still pretty good.
They were a lost clutch away from 2-0ing NAVI in the Major semi-final, and made playoffs in Chengdu, for example. They’re not even bad!
All that said, they could be much better. m0NESY is in god-tier form right now, just straight up untouchable. It’s him or donk for the best player in the world - thank god we don’t have national teams any more, eh - and he needs to be winning events.
Click here and look at m0NESY’s ratings in events this year, for crying out loud. He’s incredible, but it doesn’t seem to matter.
The usual suspects are taking aim at HooXi, and he’s not totally inculpable. He’s never been a great fragger - though he was rated higher than karrigan at this event - and to make up for it he has to be a leader like they are.
He has some excellent players, and isn’t winning. That’s not a good mix, and their game looks disjointed at times as it relies on individual brilliance.
Some of those excellent players, though, haven’t been excellent.
NiKo is still good, but not the 99 OVR superstar giga-fragger aggro-space-creator-cum-carry he was in GO, and huNter- has fallen off a cliff.
huNter- has quietly gone from a top 20 player to a player good enough for a top 20 team, and it’s killing G2. nexa is getting some flak too; he replaced a fan favourite and accomplished anchor and the team stopped winning as much.
It’s quite easy to blame nexa, but in truth, we feel a bit sorry for him. It’s not his fault NiKo and huNter- aren’t as good in CS2, and that he replaced a player everyone liked.
G2 aren’t a busted flush, but they’re also not quite there right now.
Someone save m0NESY. Team Spirit, fancy it?

Lock up your players and coaches, tier-two teams. It’s hunting season and Dota 2 organizations have a taste for sticker money.
ECSTATIC were the big underdog of the Copenhagen Major, out-doing Astralis and matching HEROIC as the de facto home Danish team.
Now a top 20 team, it’s no surprise that offers were barreling through the players’ doors.
But unlike Paris, (where Into the Breach lost volt and CYPHER, Apeks lost jL, and Monte lost BOROS) this Major’s underdogs will be able to stick together.
kraghen is an aggressive rifler that actually gets frags, and must have had some interest. Patti is the latest 3D-printed ready-made tier one IGL out of the Danish manufactory.
So it wasn’t inevitable we would see these five players together, but they’ve all been poached as one big prize, moving to Canadian side Gaimin Gladiators — a far bigger org with enough backing to pay these players Major-ready salaries.
ECSTATIC, without gambling money zipeL refused to take, could not match that.
But, let’s be honest. It still feels like a team that outperformed the sum of their parts, and now they must set their attention on staying in the top 20 against teams with far more firepower, popularity, and all-important partner slots.
With an RMR slot secured, however, it’s a gamble GG must think will pay off. Let’s just hope they have more luck than most of Counter-Strike’s gambling community.

Play enough finals, you’ll win one eventually. That’s just maths.
FaZe came to China with a chip on their shoulder, they’ve just lost 4 finals in a row, and in case you missed it one of those was at the Major. But the FaZe that showed up at Chengdu wasn’t a motivated FaZe, it was an exhausted one. karrigan made that abundantly clear, saying to HLTV that this is the most drained he has been in his career. And he played on NA EnVyUs.
But playoffs came around, and FaZe did what FaZe do best, make another finals.
Thankfully for karrigan’s sanity, this time they were playing MOUZ, a team they’ve generally had the number of. MOUZ themselves had plenty of reason to come into this game motivated, they lost to FaZe in Shanghai only a few months ago. You might remember that final, because shortly after frozen left MOUZ to join the FaZe camp and win trophies himself.
Unfortunately, the game wasn’t as good as the story around it.
FaZe seemed pretty comfortable the whole time, they punished an overly passive MOUZ on their overpass CT side and closed out despite a fake comeback. Map two was even more straightforward, FaZe won 8 rounds on T-side Nuke, and there’s no coming back from that if you’re a map down. Broky was probably the star of the show, and took MVP because of it, but he barely got challenged. Torzi had a rough final, and his missed shots could almost directly be linked to MOUZ losing Overpass.
Though that is a little unfair, MOUZ simply don’t seem as comfortable on stage, in finals at least, as FaZe is. But who is, FaZe haven’t missed a damn final in CS2 yet, unprecedented dominance despite their last few losses
If this tournament propels FaZe to convert their next few finals, this might be an all-time era. Get your karrigan GOAT IGL cards out.
