You went full NA man.

Welcome to the gun show. We’ve got Americans shooting themselves in the foot, a Canadian aiming his rifle across the Atlantic and OG’s aiming at nothing in particular.

Everyone knows NA is the ‘Florida Man’ of the CS world, but this latest stunt takes the cake. Honestly, we couldn’t have made this up if we tried.
But before we dive into the juicy stuff, here’s a bit of background.
ESL hosts a competition called ESL Challenger League (ECL) across various regions, representing the highest ESEA division. A team named Perseverance, consisting of mds, CoJoMo, Gabe, shutout, and xaler, competed in NA’s ECL.
Well, to say they “competed” would be generous – they were pretty much crushed by every team they faced.
Naturally, the team wasn’t happy with their results and wanted to replace xaler with nooz. However, they had a game scheduled for July 18th, and nooz was unavailable by that date. So, the team attempted to reschedule the match to ensure they could play with their new addition instead of the unwanted piece. The problem is that rescheduling a match because you don't want to play with a certain player isn't exactly a valid reason.
So, the team took the obvious route and decided to fabricate fake weather reports and multiple texts from shutout’s supposed ‘power company’, trying to convince ESL that the player was dealing with a power outage due to weather conditions.
Unfortunately for them, their deceiving skills were pretty much on par with the level of their performances.
Firstly, the texts were littered with grammatical errors, the most glaring being the misspelling of 'experience' as 'expierence’.
Secondly, these so-called alerts were sent from Gabe’s personal phone number – the same one he used to deal with CS-related matters before.
As expected, the whole gimmick fooled no one, and ESL promptly disqualified Perseverance from ECL, issuing them a 2-month ban from their competitions. Most recently, the Canadian org has announced that they are parting ways with the roster.
In the end, it’s almost poetic that a team called Perseverance would opt to lie and evade their responsibilities at the slightest hint of adversity.
If only they’d put as much effort into actually playing the game…
It wouldn’t be a North American (ish) team without a little bit of drama and name calling.
We’re quite North America heavy this week, but in fairness, Americans are heavier than most people. There isn’t much else happening, either.
Twistzz came out and told Pley.gg that cadiaN was rubbish. Alright, he didn’t, but he might as well have done. He said the Liquid team with the Dane ‘lacked chemistry and synergy’ and didn’t work hard enough, while ramping up praise for former IGL karrigan.
That’s as close as you can get to saying cadiaN is bad without outright saying it, really. “It was very different from what I have experienced before in FaZe. In some way, it made me value karrigan a lot more. And that’s all I have to say about that.”
Damning.
He also told HLTV that he was doing ‘a lot of captain work’ already and was basically calling anyway, if you read a little between the lines.
Can’t you just say ‘ah he was alright but we didn’t mesh, great guy, great player though’? Is that concept alien in North America?
Poor cadiaN. Ousted by stavn and Jabbi, besmirched by Twistzz and to top it all off, he once had to play for North.
Guy can’t catch a break.

Who exactly were Complexity supposed to sign? How much money is hallzerk on? Should OG be allowed at big tournaments? These are all questions.
We don’t necessarily have answers but we always try in the weekly Overtime on Inferno pod.
This week we also talk about:
You’d be forgiven for forgetting there’s a tournament going on.
It is one of those weird BLAST ones where nobody really goes out and OG are there, so it’s reasonable for you to not really care.
You should care about G2 and Team Liquid, though.
After all that sh–ttalking Twistzz did about cadiaN, you might be surprised to learn that… he might have had a point. Under his stewardship, TL took down VP and cut down high-flying NAVI to book a spot in the Group D final.
G2 moved past both NIP and FaZe to do the same in Group C, with malbsMd going sicko mode on map three against FaZe, and huNter- looking back in tip-top shape. NIP are still hanging around, though, after knocking ‘out’ Cloud9.
Group B had potential to be super spicy with the Astralis/Falcons/Vitality love triangle, but it turns out Vitality are still the best team of the three. Astralis glided past Falcons in the first round, but play them again for the chance to play Falcons.
Team Spirit. Still good. At least better than OG and HEROIC, whom they beat, and Complexity, who lost to HEROIC without degster (sAw stood in) and still beat OG.
donk’s on a 1.51 so far. m0NESY on a 1.48. Everything is in order.
This leg of the BLAST Cinematic Universe ends on Sunday with 5-6th place deciders which is the difference between Fall Finals and Fall Showdown. Quite high profile games that are cheapened by them being 5-6th place deciders.
