donk gets donked in Cologne.

The world has been flipped on its head in Cologne, at least for some of our big names, while Valve continue to ”improve” CS2 with “regular” updates. Sorry.
Good news, Valve fixed the boost bug. Bad news, they added a bigger bug. Good news, it’s fixed again.
The main headliner of CS2’s newest patch was the long-awaited fix to boosts, before the patch if you were standing on someone’s head you’d occasionally start moving up and down. Obviously that’s already annoying, but the bigger problem was the fact that it’d make you inaccurate since it was seen as jumping. Valve’s solution to this problem, seemingly, was to lock the Y value of your player to some degree. Surely this could have no consequences.
It didn’t take long for players to realize something was wrong. You could now float by using a jump boost, and your accuracy would be 100% perfect. It's like the Olofboost, but on crack. This led to some creative exploits. Funny to look at, but if that was us playing against them monitors would be broken.
Fortunately, within 3 hours Valve caught on and patched it out again. Putting an end to this madness, and showing they can work quickly, just only if it’s a catastrophic error to begin with.
CS2 is great, isn’t it?

The world has flipped, and left us here.
The MongolZ ran over Team Spirit to begin their assault on the IEM Cologne trophy. Yes, you read that correctly. mzinho is better than donk, Team Spirit’s era is over, sh1ro is a baiter who can’t hold a candle to 910.
The world has flipped, and Asia is on… top. We were never good at geography.
Alright, we knew Team Spirit, since the record-breaking IEM Katowice run, haven’t been quite as ridiculous, and we’re also aware that The MongolZ have been steadily climbing, but this was wild.
It was a 13-4 win on Anubis that really raised eyebrows around the world, but an overtime win on Ancient is a pretty spicy showing too. When we said mzinho > donk, well… on the opening day of Cologne, it was inarguable - the teenager was lights out.
They were joined in the upper bracket by SAW, who also pulled off a quick 2-0, except against G2. The world is upside down. SAW are properly back. Properly, properly back. They’re good again.
Thankfully, everywhere else, it was somewhat normal. Astralis beat 9z, NAVI smacked paiN, FaZe 2-0’d Team Liquid and Complexity… beat Virtus.pro.
It’s not that weird, but Complexity winning or losing is always surprising. Every single one of their results is surprising. We have no idea how good they are.
We do know how good ELiGE is, though, and that’s really good. 101.5 ADR over the series, and it felt like even more than that.
All that happened in just one day. It couldn’t get any crazier, could it?

We’re at a loss for words after what happened in Cologne.
We may have just witnessed the biggest meltdown in CS history.
Team Spirit, strong favorites to make the Playoffs and even take it all, vanished before our very eyes.
G2 nuked them in a 2-0 sweep where they only managed to bag 4 rounds across the whole series. To put that into perspective, this is the least amount of rounds TS has ever won in 2+ map series since their first HLTV recorded game in 2016. And to top it all off, donk put up a shockingly low 54 ADR.
You know something’s terribly wrong when even OG is taking shots at you.
But the blowout train didn’t stop there.
FURIA seemed to think TS needed some company, so they hopped on board by getting thrashed by Vitality, winning just 5 rounds in the entire BO3. Look on the bright side, FURIA – you still did better than Spirit.
Turning our attention away from the speedrun scene, we saw iM prove he can be hiM by posting a stellar 1.71 rating in a quick 2-0 over Astralis. Light work.
In the clash of the underdogs, SAW secured their spot in the LANXESS Arena with a gritty 2-1 victory, sending The MongolZ to the lower bracket. First time playing in Cologne, first playoff appearance for the Portuguese squad. If BERRY can deliver this kind of impact in just a month, we might as well predict SAW for the Shangai Major win.
And if you think that’s a terrible prognosis, you’re right. But it can’t possibly be worse than Pimp’s.
The remaining series of the day reinforced our belief that the Falcons retirement home could use a true star player (among many other things), and that biguzera is the mastermind the Brazilian scene desperately needs.
God, we love Cologne.
