donk claims another set of victims.

Sometimes, this newsletter is difficult to write. Sometimes it’s very easy. Today is more of the former as we get into some unfortunate news from the scene.
Alas, it's not all doom and gloom. We also got a fresh recap from all the action in EPL before this weekend's games kickoff.
We started this newsletter to make stupid jokes, provide a guiding light, and keep fans who haven’t been in the scene as deeply as they’d like in the loop. We’re nearing 500 editions now, and for the most part, it’s been really fun.
Part of our commitment to keeping you all up to date, though, is sometimes we have to tell you about unsettling stories too.
Broadcast talent Maniac has been accused by two separate people of sexual assault, which apparently took place after the conclusion of BLAST Premier Spring Final in June.
Freelance journalist Hannah Marie and interviewer and host Daisy Powers both gave accounts of Maniac groping and ‘chasing’ the women around the venue, both suggesting similar patterns of behaviour.
It should be noted that Maniac has disputed Hannah’s allegation and suggested his recount of events is entirely different, though Daisy (otherwise known as DAMP) completely disagrees with what Maniac said - and her fiancé, Jacky backs her up on this front.
BLAST and PGL have decided to stop working with Maniac following the accusations, with BLAST confirming that an investigation upheld the complaint.
Oh, and there’s more according to a report by Dust2.
We hate covering stories like this, not only because the subject matter is harrowing but also because we have to hold back punches, which is unlike us. However, at the same time, it wouldn’t be appropriate given the gravity of the situation.
We encourage you to draw your own conclusions from the testimonies and reports, or perhaps our TL;DR might suffice.
Now, let’s turn to other action from the week.
What's the worst way to lose a map you can imagine? Now un-imagine it, because we’ve found it.
Map one of Heroic vs. NIP started as any NIP game does. They lost the first map. But when the players came back, Heroic seemed quite confused and upset.
As it turned out, they had been disqualified from map 1 because one of their players had been caught using Snap Tap, which has recently been banned.
This meant that NIP now had a 1-0 lead, and despite Heroic winning map 2, NIP closed out the series despite losing 2 maps on the server. (:D)
After the game, TeSeS came forward and admitted to having used Snap Tap while claiming he had turned it off when Valve banned it, and that he didn’t notice it during the game. Kudos to him. He admitted his mistake and called it “fucking embarrassing and amateur.” It’s rare someone in Counter-Strike holds themselves accountable like that.
Fortunately for Heroic, they won their second game, so the dream is not dead. TeSeS MVP redemption arc, please.
In fact, they are facing NIP again in Group A’s last chance stage tomorrow.

donk went absolutely bonkers, and he’s driving us wild. Either that, or we’re just a bit crazy. We’re definitely not crazy about FaZe Clan, though.
In this week’s episode of Overtime on Inferno our two hosts, aizyesque and Logan Ramhap dive deep into:

Donk doubters, where you at?
The kid had enough of the fraud slander and decided to take matters into his own hands in Malta.
In the opening round against Wildcard, donk broke the CS2 kill record, racking up 38 kills in regulation on Ancient. If that wasn’t impressive enough, he followed up with 37 kills on Nuke, this time with one OT.
No one in the series had more kills than donk’s kill/death differential. Yes, you read that right.
We could write 17 different newsletters just from the absurd stats he posted in this series alone. Don’t worry, we won’t.
Now, we know it’s hard to believe, but this isn’t even the craziest part. Despite donk’s nuclear performance, the entire series was actually close.
If he hadn’t gone full supernova, Spirit might have lost to Amouranth’s org. Wild times we live in.
In Spirit’s next series, history played its trick again. Donk donked, and his team vanished, paving the way for MIBR to secure a Playoffs spot in a banger of a match. Seriously, watch this clip.
In sharp contrast, the clash between The MongolZ and KOI was anything but competitive. KOI only managed to win a single round across the entire BO3.
Honestly, we’re pretty sure our Level 4 premade could have pulled off at least two. Our DM’s are open.
While Group B stole the spotlight, Group A also had its share of surprises, with Sangal’s upsets vs. FaZe and HEROIC. Okay, HEROIC are terrible and FaZe are not who they used to be, but it’s still surprising.
If Sangal isn’t on your radar yet, you might want to keep an eye on them from now on.
In other (less thrilling) opening round results, NAVI and Eternal Fire swept Lynn Vision and FlyQuest, respectively.
If touching grass is not on your Friday plans, we recommend a couple of matches: catch the donk show in Spirit vs. The MongolZ, or dive into FaZe and Sangal’s rematch.
