You ever need a toilet break mid-pug?

Ninjas in Pyjamas have put a new captain in charge of Theseus’ Ship, Astralis are sinking in the deep blue sea and pros are gasp having to write their own signature.

Cue the Shrek song.
In EPL’s Group C, M80 and fnatic shattered the CS2 record for most rounds played on a single map, enduring a 71-round and 8-overtime marathon. In the end, M80 emerged victorious with a nail-biting 37-34 win. Imagine playing 71 rounds and still losing the game… that’s a filter.
The game dragged on for so long that the players even had to take a bathroom break mid-map. M80 ultimately came out on top, securing the sweep over Fnatic and punching their ticket to the Playoffs. NA fans, rejoice!
Watching Astralis is also a bit of a drag right now, as they just can’t seem to find their groove. After a tough loss to fnatic in the opening round, they went on to get swept by Complexity in the lower bracket.
Losing to fnatic is downright embarrassing, but getting rolled by Complexity? Rough time to rep Astralis. If only there was a solid Danish IGL on the market…
If at first you don’t succeed, try again. Liquid has been been living by this motto for a while now, and one of their (many) gambles is finally paying off.
Ultimate, aka Roland from Poland, is the real deal. The young AWPer is currently averaging an impressive 1.45 rating across four maps in Group D, carrying Liquid into the Playoffs after wins against ENCE and Virtus.Pro.
To top it off, as usual, here are some EPL recommendations to fill your Friday:
This is what happens when you can’t behave.
Valve has released new rules restricting what pros can put on their stickers for the Shanghai Major. Players now have to draw their signatures in person and are being instructed to sign them like they would a mousepad. Valve is also reiterating the old rules that you have to draw it yourself, it can’t be computer generated, and it can’t just be a font. But who would do such a thing?
If the old rules were already restrictive, you might wonder why Valve required the players to draw them in person.
Well, as it turns out, CS pros are terrible at following instructions. Many were rejected for not satisfying the guidelines. The most famous (or funny) example of this was Wicadia, who claimed to have hand-drawn his rejected signature, only for people to find the font he used online.
This whole debacle delayed the PGL Copenhagen stickers because players had to hand draw them at the actual event. This also cost Valve money, so you can see why they care so much.
We’ll miss the overcomplicated stickers of yesteryear – ChrisJ, we’re looking at you – but this is probably a good thing. Having the actual pro’s signature on your in-game skins feels more authentic, which is nice.
Now Valve just need to design an interesting sticker to put the autographs on, preferably one that can match the glorious Katowice 2014 vintage.
You’ve Ship of Theseus’d everything about NIP, except REZ, to the point where one of the replacement pieces is also now being replaced. This is no longer recognisable as NIP - except for the fact they continue to disappoint.
alex has been binned off for MisteM, who was leading their academy project (oh, sorry, Young Ninjas) and assistant coach slap has been replaced by sprayxd, also from the academy project. Hope you enjoy the poisoned chalice, MisteM. Good luck.
NIP have been pretty rubbish for a long, long time now and no matter who they change, bring in or sign they seem to continue to be pretty rubbish.
There are three potential options here.
We tend to think it’s the fourth one. They still don’t have a single superstar and haven’t since device. They talk a good game about winning stuff in 2025, but they don’t seem to recognise that you need a worldclass player to do that.
Look at the top teams in the world and notice that they all have legitimate superstar players. HEROIC proved you don’t need one, but they were a full Danish team who had all the advantages of being a national team and, frankly, were a massive outlier.
What we’re saying is, you can have Lewis Hamilton driving, but if you give him a Fiat 500, he ain’t going to win.
