Aren’t rebuilds supposed to be good?

Good rebuilds, bad rebuilds, rostermania is now in full swing, and with the IEM Cologne roster lock right around the corner, it’s only going to get more wild.
You’ll see what we did there in a minute.

How would you react if Vitality suddenly benched apEX and ZywOo at the same time?
If you’re a Vitality fan, you probably wouldn’t be too thrilled.
Well, that's exactly the kind of misery Wildcard inflicted on their fans when they announced the benching of stanislaw and phzy.
Okay, that comparison might be a little bit of a stretch… but you get our point.
stanislaw was the mind behind this project, building it from the ground up by taking in young talent like JBa and susp, and molding them into a solid team. By NA standards, at least.
For the IGL who elevated this roster to a new level of competition to be let go like this, it almost certainly points to internal disagreements over the squad’s direction. And that seems to be the case, as stanislaw himself stated: “I wanted to rebuild my way, but management had different ideas.”
Sure, Wildcard missed out on qualifying for Stage 2 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major - a big disappointment, no doubt. But to give up on your proven leader? That’s a very questionable decision, to say the least.
And it becomes even more questionable when, alongside your IGL, you also bench your star AWPer. The same AWPer who just delivered a masterclass at the Major and did everything he could to carry the team through.
Can they find a better replacement? Probably not. Unless, of course, Amouranth decides to throw some more cash their way.
So, the big question now stands: what’s next for Wildcard?
Adding insult to injury, reports have surfaced that they might be looking into Brazilian players like JOTA and v$m. Who? Exactly.
This would be hilarious – in all the wrong ways – if it actually happened, but it looks like the rumors might not be entirely accurate.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see if Wildcard get any wilder.
Until then the lineup consists of:
🇺🇸 JBa
🇿🇦 Sonic
🇸🇪 susp

Remember when HEROIC had a strong and stable Danish team? What happened to that?
Since then, the team has rebuilt twice, and although they may not have reached the same heights as with the cadiaN gang, their subsequent two rebuilds have managed to remain far more competitive than we ever expected them to.
But is that good scouting? Or just getting extremely lucky?
Well, we guess we’ll find out soon enough - the org has now announced their third rebuild in 18 months.
With xfl0ud benched and sAw and SunPayus off to G2, there was plenty of spots for HEROIC to fill, and they’ve done so by finally bringing nilo into the fold, as well as signing gr1ks and former MOUZ NXT coach, TOBIZ.
nilo is the big name here, there’s been plenty of anticipation for him since he was signed from Metizport at the start of the year. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have your eyes peeled for gr1ks, though, he’s been putting up impressive numbers down in tier two for a while now.
We’re still confused by the benching of xfl0ud, he was a genuine star on the previous lineup, but if keeping hold of tN1R meant they were able to actually get one of the more promising AWPers in CS, it must be worth it.
tN1R is also just really f*cking good, so we can’t blame them for wanting him to stick around.
So, is it luck? Or are HEROIC just that good at this?
They say the bubble always bursts, let’s find out when this one will.
HEROIC now consists of:
🇸🇪 LNZ
🇸🇪 nilo
🇸🇪 yxngstxr
🇧🇾 gr1ks
🇧🇾 tN1R

The streets are saying that broky might be making a return to FaZe.
And yes, a lot of that is based on the fact that he’s started playing FACEIT again.
That and the fact that s1mple definitely won’t be heading to FaZe. He also won’t be heading back to NAVI. Nor will he be heading to any other team. Well, it was nice to have you back for a month, GOAT.
Seriously though, what are FaZe doing here? We know broky might be popping off on his return to FACEIT, but that’s because he’s a good player, that doesn’t mean it’s going to instantly translate to form in officials.
In fact, given everything we saw from FaZe prior to broky’s benching, we already have good reason to believe that won’t happen. Unless they’re going to make another change on top of this, which would make that rain video become exceedingly funny.
Honestly? We just don’t really understand why they haven’t picked up s1mple, or at least someone like gr1ks. This team clearly needs fresh faces, and broky is not a fresh face.
Although, given things some of the things we’ve heard (which you’ll just have to trust us on) we think the FaZe purse strings might be a little tighter than they’d care to admit.
Maybe with one new face, broky might get back to his best, but we just don’t see it. This move just feels like a backwards step, and FaZe have already taken plenty of those this year.

It should come as no surprise that NAVI are making some changes – we haven’t seen vibes that bad since one of us wore a branded TLDR hoodie on a first date and had to explain what a FlyQuest was.
This team has been nowhere near their peak this season, and the snippets we’ve seen from inside their comms have been… ugly. And we’re not talking about B1ad3’s scary face.
Rumours spread of friction between team members, which is probably the easiest rumour to ever spread. You try spending every day with the same four people and playing Counter-Strike with them, and see how quickly you end up hating them.
We’ve ruined many a friendship by baiting.
In a sort of American game show-style twist, though, NAVI have announced the player who is joining, but not who is leaving. makazze is the one joining, but in terms of the departing player, we’re hoping they do some sort of fight to the death. Metaphorically. In game.
Imagine the views they could get streaming some sort of tournament between the players to decide who has to leave; we’re in need of some post-season content here, lads.
1v1s (quickscope no scopes only on Rust anyone?), chess boxing, eating challenges, hell, an episode of Impractical Jokers. A penalty shootout. A game of Horse on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. A Random Battle on Pokemon Showdown.
Anything will do, just have a competition to see who gets replaced. Please.
Sadly, it’s likely that iM will be replaced by makazze from the Junior team, while the rest of the kids are set free into the esports wilderness. This is because - and try not to fall asleep here - of ‘makazze’s hyper-aggressiveness’ and ‘shar[ing] most of his positions with iM’.
Aren’t you glad you have us bleating on about Impractical Jokers instead of reading HLTV?
iM hasn’t been the absolute smash hit that perhaps we all expected post-Paris Major, but he’s been an integral part of a NAVI team that blew through their expected ceiling and was for a while the best team in the world. He’s still good, just not the superstar we’d hoped for.
makazze, on the other hand, is lightning-in-a-bottle. Really fun, really dangerous, might fade into nothing or might cause a forest to burn down. Odd analogy. Good player, though - he sits at a similar level numbers-wise to b1t on the academy team.
Not a bad player to be compared to as a rookie.
