Who doesn’t love a free win for sh-tters?

BLAST Open London is now underway, and it seems Counter-Strike’s newest map is throwing up some unexpected results.

Can I copy your homework?
Yeah, just change it up a bit so it doesn’t look obvious.
Just days after benching saffee, MIBR took a page out of FURIA’s book, announcing that kl1m will be joining on loan from G2 Ares, the org’s academy team.
Kl-who?
Yeah, if you actually have a life and don’t spend your free time watching EU tier 3 events like United21 or the European Pro League, his name probably won’t ring a bell. But with a 1.25 rating across 37 maps for G2 Ares, kl1m is yet another CIS prodigy making waves.
TL;DR: grab your cracked CIS wonderkid before someone else does.
FURIA took a massive gamble by bringing in an unproven rookie into a roster with a big language barrier and throwing him straight into the sharks. But it paid off big time.
Now it’s MIBR’s turn to roll the dice, and we’d argue this gamble is even riskier. Don’t get us wrong, the talent is clearly there, just like with molodoy. But unlike him, kl1m lacks consistent tier 2 experience, making the leap from what he knows to what he’s about to face a huge one.
So what does this move mean for Brazil as a region?
If you’re a young BR AWPer with dreams of reaching the top, it’s hardly encouraging. Two of the country’s biggest orgs have now turned to international prospects instead of investing in local talent. Maybe that’s just the harsh reality right now, as the pipeline of promising Brazilian AWPers simply isn’t there.
We weren’t fully sold on the molodoy move either, and look how that turned out. So for now, we’ll give MIBR and kl1m the benefit of the doubt.
Who knows? Maybe he steps up, proves his potential, and G2 come back knocking down the line. After all, SunPayus seems to be making that case on his own…

So, Gentle Mates have entered the CS scene.
And no, apparently that isn’t some form of euphemism for masturbation.
They’’ve signed the roster now formally known as Iberian Soul, which sounds like a horrible mistake considering the fact it screams “Spanish roster”, but considering said Spanish roster is in with a good chance of making the Budapest Major it might actually not be bad.
Featuring former 9z AWPer MartinezSa, former NIP IGL alex, and incredible players like mopoz and dav1g, the jokes should write themselves, but this is a team that’s actually been doing alright recently.
Somehow.
Seriously, we can’t even criticise the signing of this roster, they’re currently 20th in VRS and only projected to climb. That’s a seriously good place to be.
Besides, if they start to drop off then we all know what will happen - Gentle Mates will kick players until they have a fully international squad ready to start consistently making tier one events.
And honestly? If that means we never actually have to watch dav1g play CS, we won’t be complaining.

We’re really starting to think there won’t be a week where Jack and Sam aren’t attacking someone. Whether it’s HLTV, EliGE, or even members of the TLDR discord, everyone eats sh-t in this week’s episode, and our two hosts are happy to serve it on a plate to them.

We’ve been buzzing to see the best teams in the world play Overpass, and it turns out that outside of Spirit, they’re all absolutely f-cking sh-t at it.
Then again, Spirit were probably never going to struggle with donk and sh1ro holding down the A site. B-stards.
But seriously, Vitality got 13-3’d by M80, FaZe got 13-10’d by ECSTATIC, and MOUZ lost 13-2 to Imperial. Imperial. They couldn’t hit anything if they were Stan Collymore and their opponents were Ulrika Jonsson for f-ck’s sake.
They better all sort it out quick. We want to see some good maps of Overpass, not whatever we’ve had to watch for the last two miserable days.
Speaking of miserable, has anyone checked in with electroNic lately? VP put in another dismal performance against GamerLegion to kick off the event, and we reckon he’s now a minimum of 13 rounds away from taking a bath with a toaster.
It’s also not looking good for siuhy either, for what it’s worth, his Liquid squad got took to the cleaners by huNter- and the funky bunch on G2.
So much for promising results (read: losses) vs Vitality, ay lads?
The good news is that so far, none of the underdogs have picked up series wins. And don’t get us wrong, it’s not that we aren’t fond of an upset, we’re just not too keen on any of these teams picking up upsets.
We wouldn’t have minded fnatic beating NAVI, but they couldn’t win a Mirage T side round even if b1t was calling for NAVI’s CT side - and that’s saying something.
Sorry, b1t, we can teach you to shave your knuckles if you’d like. Saves Aleksib the trouble.
An entirely predictable opening round, it’s a good set up for the rest of the event, so we really aren’t complaining too much.
Would’ve been good if ECSTATIC had won, though. There’s a lot of jokes we’re waiting to make with man like nut nut.
F-cking nut nut. Give us a break.
