Who do you get when you combine aim with zero brain?

A BO5 reverse sweep at a tier one event AND the greatest duo of all time reuniting in the Last Chance Saloon? Yeah, the last few days have been BIG (and not the crap German team)

Remember when s1mple and electroNic were the greatest duo to ever touch CS
BC.Game does.
In fact, they seem to remember it like it was yesterday. Well, it’s either that or they’ve just completely forgotten what it’s been like to watch electroNic play CS over the last few years.
They’ve now signed the former Major winner to replace pr1metapz, freeing electroNic from his VP-induced hellhole.
Or did they free VP from him? We’re not sure…
Okay, jokes aside, we are actually excited about this move. We think we’ve made our thoughts on it pretty clear, it’s not going to be good, but look - the vibes are going to be something.
If s1mple keeps popping off like he has they’ll be immaculate, but as electroNic feels the IGL role call to him like the One Ring, those vibes are going to off themselves faster than a certain man who owned a certain island in a certain jail cell.
And just like that bloke, nexa probably isn’t going to give up willingly either.
Man, this is going to be fun, isn’t it?
Especially if s1mple keeps skipping officials to play DOTA.

It’s not very often we get reverse sweeps in Counter-Strike, but you could smell this one from a mile away.
0-2 down after two strong maps from a NAVI side who had already dug deep to take down The MongolZ in the semis of the Thunderpick World Championship, FURIA proved why they’re the most exciting team to watch in CS right now.
And we f-cking loved it.
Seriously, we’ve ran out of superlatives for FURIA now. Their smoke is too tough. Their swag is too different. Their b-tches are too bad. We love them for it.
Coming back from 0-2 down in CS is borderline impossible, but the entire team pulled it out of the bag in order to get this one over the line. First it was FalleN on Nuke, then YEKINDAR and molodoy on Dust2. And if those performances weren’t enough for you, just look at what molodoy then did to NAVI on Train.
Map five. In a BO5. Where you started 0-2 down. 20 years old. Warra player.
Enough about FURIA, though, we already know they’re winning the Major. But what about NAVI? What about that team made up of four players that have more than enough experience to not get 13-1’d in map five on a BO5 that they once lead 2-0?
Yeah, we’re still not convinced by them.
Seriously, we know how good FURIA are nowadays, but this is just unacceptable. A team so far away from truly being able to compete at the top consistently again, they were getting put to the sword faster than Ned Stark even when B1ad3 was calling them every round.
It was shambolic, truly. Even whilst we were celebrating FURIA running away with it, we couldn’t help but feel sorry for them.
Let’s hope they can get on track in time for the Major.
Who pulled off the first LAN reverse sweep in CS2 history and what tournament was it at?
Find the answer at the end.

In an event littered with teams that you look at and think “if you’re serious about this team, you’ve got to be winning events like this”, the team that rose above the noise was actually one you definitely didn’t give a second thought to.
Hell, if we’d told you a Brazilian team was going to win, you still would have picked paiN or MIBR, even knowing those teams will always, always let you down.
Somehow, Legacy came out deserved winners in the CS Asia Championships. We’re not joking. They were legitimately really good. And maybe more importantly to us, the viewers, really, really fun to watch.
latto and dumau have been a ‘young duo to watch’ for so long they’ve entered the Theo Walcott zone, but maybe, just maybe, they’re finally hitting their peak. At least latto is.
Usually, dumau was the one everyone got excited for. He seemed to have it all - crisp aim, great stats, cool in the clutch, could secondary AWP, good hair - but he hasn’t quite done it consistently. Neither has latto, until this event.
latto took home the MVP for consistently stellar performances throughout, including a 1.19 in the final that mirrored his event rating. Now that’s consistency.
n1ssim pipped him to the top as Legacy cut 3DMAX down in five maps, and saadzin did the same in the huge semi-final win over HEROIC, but latto found himself second both times, and was excellent in the 2-1 win over FUT, too.
Of course, Legacy winning means nobody else did. That’s how tournaments work. Liquid continue to mildly underwhelm, bowing out against 3DMAX in the semis, as did fnatic in the quarters. Something something, CYPHER is better than KRIMZ. Read the deep dive on Wednesday.
At least they made playoffs. FaZe didn’t even manage that. It’s hard not to feel for jcobbb, who has been messed around constantly and now is struggling to find his feet, and he’s going to need big ones for the shoes he’s filling.

For a guy with as exciting, varied, chaotic and downright fun career as k0nfig, his first and last game weren’t half depressing.
In his first game, a Closed Qualifier game for the RNG Pro Series, he got mogged hard by XANTARES (who in many ways, is the player people thought k0nfig was. Keep that quiet, though), who pushed past k0nfig’s Reason in a clean 16-9 win, with XANTARES dropping 25.
k0nfig wasn’t bad, finishing second behind JUGi, but did end up 16-19. It was an encouraging enough start for him personally, if not super exciting. It could be worse, though.
After a crazy middle part of his career, k0nfig decided to commit career seppuku and join Ninjas in Pyjamas. Honestly, we thought about just putting his last game before NIP as the last game, because joining them is retirement.
Tasked with carrying one of the worst teams ever constructed to compete at that level, k0nfig couldn’t stop alex from running it down and going - and we’re not yanking your chain here - 6-30 in a BO3.
k0nfig himself went 19-29 and 1:6 in opening duels, which is… whatever. This game was not his fault.
These bookends on his career are something of an allegory - somewhat encouraging signs at the start, clear potential, but it all ended exactly as it started; with a disappointing loss. And that’s enough about North.
Sorry, mate. We really liked you. When k0nfig was good, there was nobody better in the world to watch. Sadly, he was never good for long enough.
Enjoy retirement, boss.
k0nfig’s retirement has left many people saying that he is Counter-Strike’s biggest ‘What If?’ - but is that really the case?
