It doesn’t matter how tempting it is

In a week where fake football shirts were called evil, we all got to see the real evil - the fake version of FURIA.
Also, FaZe are good again now? Yeah, we’re confused too.

You didn’t fool us with that Stage 1 run, FlyQuest. Deep down, we all know you’re still sh-t. Just don’t look at our Pick’ems.
After a flawless opening Stage, the Aussies immediately set the tone for Stage 2 with two terrible performances against NAVI and 3DMAX - two matches where they managed just nine total rounds across both maps.
Then came the coughing baby vs. coughing baby elimination battle, where Astralis sent FlyQuest flying home with a sweep. jks was the only player who showed any signs of fighting back in their short-lived run.
Sure, the quality of opposition in Stage 2 is higher, but that’s still no excuse for a team that went 3-0 to crash out this spectacularly.
The other team that left Budapest without a single win was MIBR, playing their first real LAN with the ‘you-can-copy-my-homework-but-don’t-make-it-too-obvious’ lineup. kl1m and Qikert, better known as molodoy and YEKINDAR from TEMU, played their first big tournament together with the new org - and it went pretty much exactly how you’d expect.
Despite showing a bit of a fight in their opening matchup against Passion UA, they still ended up falling to JT and co. The second round only confirmed what everyone saw coming from miles away: a total stomp in the Brazilian derby, with Imperial tearing through MIBR and dumping them into the 0-2 group.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, Qikert said ‘hold my Rio medal’. In the first half of the elimination game against Liquid, he somehow finished with 0 ADR. Yes, z-e-r-o. He didn’t deal a single point of damage across 12 rounds. On Inferno, of all maps. How is that even possible?
In the end, it didn’t take long for Liquid to 2-0 MIBR - despite a rather close second map - conveniently just in time for them to join FlyQuest on the airport shuttle.

Here’s a little tip: if you’re going to play against Jame in a BO1, don’t let him play Overpass.
We don’t care who you are, how good you are at Overpass, what the rest of your map pool looks like - don’t pick Overpass.
Aurora learnt that lesson today as they lost to Jame and his four minions, whom he said he pulled from the street (not even a misquote), by letting him play the map he won a Major maining. Aurora aren’t brilliant, but they should be better than street gamers and their tall, hairy, hippie leader.
PARIVISION move into the 2-1 bracket because they beat Liquid and lost to TYLOO (?), where they are joined by Imperial, who somehow have found themselves winning games again. We’ll see where they land in the BO3s, but a win over fnatic is not to be sniffed at.
You’ll never guess who topfragged in a fnatic loss. Again.
Their other win was against MIBR, which doesn’t really count. Even Passion UA beat them, and they lost to 3DMAX to put themselves in the 1-2 bracket. We’d be amazed if they win a BO3 - they have looked pretty awful in both losses.
M80 are also, perhaps surprisingly, in the 2-1 bracket, having beaten TYLOO and Astralis. It is markedly less impressive once you realise that’s who they beat, but you can only beat what’s in front of you.
The other 1-2 teams are obviously Astralis and Liquid who won their 0-2 games, but if you want to know the other 2-1 teams you’ll have to read about the 2-0 games below.
That’s how they get ya.

We’re going to be honest, FaZe, we really don’t understand you anymore.
You were rotten in Stage 1. Truly awful. You should be out right now. So how have you blasted through Stage 2? You lot don ‘t do 3-0, ffs.
It was pretty convincing, too. 13-10 versus Passion UA on Dust2, followed by the same scoreline on the same map versus Aurora, you were a clearly changed team. We can’t believe we’re saying it, but shots like these out of jcobbb have us believing in FaZe magic again. jcobbb!
Top it all off with a 2-0 victory against NIP - a team you lost to in Stage 1 - and you’re almost looking like a good team.
Almost. broky is still rubbish, that’s not going help you in Stage 3.
NAVI also went 3-0, which, if we’re being real, is to be expected. Even if they’ve been a bit disappointing this year, they’re still the best team in this Stage, and they’re run wasn’t exactly difficult.
They kicked off their Major campaign with a battering of FlyQuest on Train, and put themselves 2-0 with a solid win over Imperial on Mirage. They then handily defeated B8 to close out their games, and considering the way w0nderful played in all three of those matches, we don’t think they’re done yet.
A reassuring showing from them, we’re not willing to say they’re back just yet, but they looked bloody good.
We’ll take that.
