zweih did the donking

Is it just destiny that the worst player on Spirit must step up during a Major? zweih has us feeling that way.
Also, 100 Thieves are building a retirement home, whilst paiN seem to have realised that going international but not signing Eastern Europeans may have been a mistake.

Wake us up when the real games start.
We really tried to believe, MongolZ. We hyped ourselves up into thinking you could do it without Senzu. Mind you, this was a pretty typical Senzu stage performance, except this time he literally didn’t turn up.
Vitality - well ZywOo mostly - absolutely tore The MongolZ a new one, ending the quarter-final before it ever really felt like it started.
ZywOo ended the series 46-18 with a 2.18 rating and nearly 13% round swing. We don’t know what that means really, but it’s definitely quite good. He was 15-1 on the T side of Mirage with a 37.53% round swing.
apEX, incidentally, was 0-5. It did not matter.
The MongolZ took just nine rounds in what was as one-sided a playoff game as you’ll ever see. Into The Breach ran it much closer than that in Paris, for crying out loud.
There’s no analysis to be done. ZywOo went 30-8 on the T sides combined. controlez went 3-14. You cannot possibly win in these conditions.
apEX, incidentally, went 5-16 on the T side. It felt like it too, he kept dying and it mattered naught, because ZywOo absolutely beasted ‘em.
That was anticlimactic.

With FalleN, yuurih, and KSCERATO locked away on FURIA, it’s safe to say you can’t really get close to a Brazilian superteam.
But boy, paiN might now be able to get close.
After a solid start to the lineup back in Austin, a rough second half to the year has seen them decide to end their South American adventure, benching dgt and dav1deuS as they slink back through the Amazon to, presumably, more familiar territory.
But what could that mean for them?
The obvious answer is that insani will soon be heading to paiN. The young gun has spent far too long languishing on MIBR and it’s time he got a move up the ladder, even if it’s only a small step up with paiN.
That does mean, however, that they still have one spot left to fill. And although we’d like to see them with try instead of nqz, VRS rules mean they can’t do that, so how about Lucaozy instead? He may have dropped off individually since returning to Fluxo from MIBR, but he’s an impactful and stable player who could be exactly what paiN need to steady the ship.
Alternatively, the Brazilians could look to change IGL, and a familiar face could return in order for them to do so. lux has gone a step further than paiN ever could since taking up the reins on Legacy, and a return for him could free up biguzera to become a fragging menace once more.
We don’t know what will happen, but we do know one thing: we’ll be watching paiN with great caution. Too many times have we allowed ourselves to be excited by this team, so we’ll be waiting for some consistent performances before we hype them again.
Fool us once…
We like the NIP team, but we’d be lying to you if we said we didn’t think there was a weak link.
Fortunately, we’re really smart, and NIP think he’s a weak link, too.
That weak link is ewjerkz, who NIP have wasted no time in benching following their disappointing collapse in Stage 2 of the Major. The second Portuguese player they’ve benched this year after arrozdoce, it really does suggest that the run in Cologne with SAW may have just been a nice little national team fluke showing.
They’ll reportedly be replacing him with Inner Circle player cairne, who has been seriously impressive this year with the Ukrainian team. A player who can be a true third star for them alongside r1nkle and xKacpersky, it’s a move we really can’t knock at all.
We’d like to, seeing as it’s NIP and we had to watch the dross they put out for years, but we just can’t.
It’s just a good move. We hope it works out. Long live Snappi FC.

We’ve come to the conclusion that the boys over at 100 Thieves simply can’t have been watching the Major. If they were watching, then we’d like to know what substances were consumed during the Astralis games to think this version of device is one worth picking up.
Yeah, you read that right. device is signing for 100 Thieves. No, we can’t believe it either.
The third geriatric to join the team after rain and gla1ve, we want to be positive about a “veteran” backbone or some other horsesh-t we could come up with, but honestly…
This is starting to seem really sh-t.
A first-time IGL, a first-time coach, and an AWPer who can’t keep off the toilet long enough to actually attend his biggest event of his year? It’s not exactly a recipe for success, is it?
It’s not that we think it’s hopeless, device could obviously remember where his mouse is located, but all three of those things AND his bowels not betraying him at the same time? Nope, just can’t see it.
So, REZ, Tauson, and PR, enjoy the Roobet bag, lads, because you’re still going to be playing without a fifth member of your team.
At least he’ll be a legend this time and not Kursy. Eurgh.
Side note: What the f-ck are Astralis going to do now? The fact they can’t pay their players tells us there’s a small risk they might disband, but even if they don’t - what Danish AWPer exists that can possibly help them?
We don’t see one - unless we take whatever substance 100T were on and squint at nicoodoz - so maybe it’s just time for device 2.0.
And, for all you youngens out there, by that, we mean stavn. Because the last time Astralis converted a choking rifler with solid second AWPing skills into a primary big green abuser he won four Majors and 19 MVP awards.
What’s that about history repeating itself?

For the first time ever, m0NESY has lost to Team Spirit. And, more importantly, donk finally got the better of NiKo.
More impressively, though, it was zweih who was the hero in the playoffs kick off.
An ultimately disappointing game considering the names on show, Falcons should’ve took us to a third map on Dust2, but a second half of underwhelming T side calling from kyxsan after a dismal T side showing on Nuke saw them fall 2-0 to their opponents, exiting the competition without as much as a whimper.
We’d love to harp on about how great Spirit were here, but honestly, they weren’t. Their CT side on Nuke was nice, sure, it certainly made Falcons’ attempt to punish pick it look silly, but Falcons themselves were just… bad.
TeSeS - in what will likely be his final game for the team - was rubbish, kyxsan’s calling was poor, and zonic, despite the battering that Falcons were enduring on Nuke, failed to call a timeout to try and save the day.
Honestly, it just wasn’t the exciting game we were promised.
Even zweih, for all the plaudits he’ll get for his ace on Dust2, wasn’t that impressive in getting it. His kills were clean, but the round is a testament to just how badly Falcons played. He dodged flashes with ease and never had to worry about being traded, we’ve seen eco aces that were harder.
But don’t worry Falcons. Next year will be your year.
Just one more star.
