molodoy actually is THAT good

Apparently, HLTV have angered everyone with a certain AWPers placement on the top 20, but what if we told you they were right to rank him so highly?
Also, BC.Game somehow got even worse. Really not vamos of them.

Hide your girlfriends, stavn is back on the market.
Denmark’s fallen wonderkid is searching for a fresh start after being released by Astralis and officially becoming a free agent.
In his own statement, stavn opened up about stepping away from competition in August to properly process the loss of his brother to suicide back in 2021. After “professional therapy and patience”, he feels ready to get back on the server - and honestly, we’d love to see it.
The past couple of years have undeniably hurt the early legacy of what was once Denmark’s brightest prospect, but let’s not pretend the four consecutive top-16 finishes in HLTV’s Players of the Year happened by accident.
And no, we’re not stavnwashing — he’s been proper sh-t ever since leaving the well-oiled machine that was cadiaN’s HEROIC, let’s get that clear — but he’s already shown the level he’s capable of reaching. Everyone deserves a second chance, don’t you think?
So, where does the 2026 redemption arc begin?
Right after Astralis’ announcement, our first thought was a potential HEROIC return, especially after yxngstxr’s benching. That idea didn’t last long, though, as they quickly announced susp as his replacement.
Realistically, taking a gamble on someone who hasn’t played an official since August is a big ask for any top-10 team. But for squads hovering in the 15-25 range, the risk might just be worth taking.
It seems there’s already a team electing to sign him, that’s if you believe German CS leaks, anyway. That team is fnatic, who are reportedly losing blameF to BIG.
It just makes too much sense, doesn’t it?

Looks like HEROIC told yxngstxr that they can’t go on together with suspicious minds.
Are we right guys? Are we right?
Bad jokes aside, we really like this move from HEROIC. The incoming Swede may have had a rough 2025, but who can blame him play for the clown fiesta that was Wildcard? The AI overlords really screwed him over, just look at the difference in his tendencies to open and entry between 2024 and 2025.
No one can blame him for getting out fast.
Realistically, though, susp is just a better player than yxngstxr. HEROIC probably aren’t making the cut in our upcoming rostermania winners and losers deep dive, but don’t think that means they haven’t won here.
CS is so competitive now that it’s hard to view their team as top ten material, but that doesn’t mean it’s out of the question – and we wouldn’t have said that before.
In Chr1zN and susp they’ve found undeniable upgrades on the players they’re replacing, and we don’t think it’s out of the question to see them win some of the more CCTified LANs this year.

TaZ. s1mple. electroNic. Erm, MUTiRiS?
If we were building a team to win DreamHack Summer 2018, we’d be in with a shout. Though, even then, the three Portuguese players seem a bit out of place - and the fact that TaZ is coaching would be a bit weird.
Actually, forget we said anything.
You already know about BC.Game’s insane (derogatory) line-up, but adding TaZ in as the coach — or vibes manager, probably more accurately — just makes it weirder. It’s like a team proposed in a HLTV comment from a Portuguese flag-bearer from seven years ago.
Can TaZ coach? Probably not. Does that matter? Probably not. He’s not here for tactical expertise. He’s here to look cool and break up fights.
And we’re sure this team will be doing a whole lot of fighting. Just maybe not with the enemy team.

It looks like everyone is unhappy about molodoy getting sixth in the HLTV top 20.
Aww, did you guys finally realise the list you look forward to all year means nothing and is made by a group of people reinforcing their own agendas?
In all seriousness, we know you’re all a bit confused by this year’s list, and we won’t lie to you, we are, too. For example: where is HeavyGod? When it comes to molodoy’s placement, though, we’re completely on HLTV’s side, because he’s just that good.
Actually, think about it for a moment. Think about how bad pretty much every other AWPer is. Now think about how much ZywOo and m0NESY rifle, or how little impact sh1ro sometimes has because he’s such a little b-tch.
Yes, those three players are above molodoy in both rating and list placement, but consider what sets molodoy apart from them and all the AWPers below him. Practically all of his impact comes from the AWP. And that’s not because he’s there holding angles and waiting for clutches, it’s because he’s aggressive and seeking out duels, whether that’s with the enemy sniper or with some of the best riflers in the world.
molodoy is doing something that absolutely no one else is doing right now. That’s why he’s so high.
We’re not going to bore you with the stats — although they are ridiculous — you can go and read the HLTV article for that, but just go back and watch some FURIA games with your eyes actually open. KSCERATO might be the guy who ends most games with the highest rating, but molodoy is the main driving force behind this team. The gap in the meta that he found is what allowed them to ascend to greatness.
In a list that in some way tries to contextualise how good players are in their respective roles, how can you argue against molodoy’s placement? He stands tall in a group of four elite AWPers, doing something none of those other four do, and has won two MVP awards doing it.
molodoy just is THAT good, who cares if he had a couple of weak games at Majors during his rookie year? They’re not going to happen forever, and we’re willing to bet that when he does figure it out, it’ll end with him lifting the trophy.
So yeah, we agree with HLTV. But seriously, where the f-ck is HeavyGod?
So, what do you think?

In the last edition, we asked you how good Senzu would be as a primary AWPer?
Here’s what you had to say:
