Spirit are terrible and FaZe confirm their fifth

Spirit are really, really bad. Like seriously bad. So is r1nkle. Neither of these things surprise us.
We also weren’t surprised to see the announcement of FaZe’s new fifth, and we don’t think you will be either.

Maybe deko was right - sh1ro might as well quit.
The headline result of the first few games in Paris is one nobody saw coming. Nobody but one half of the only Counter-Strike podcast worth its salt, anyway. Neither you nor donk had probably heard of JiJieHao before Wednesday, and yet, Spirit found themselves in the lower bracket.
But could they have done it in a best-of-three? The way the game looked - yeah, they could have.
sh1ro not only managed to 1G himself, but recorded a whopping 0.52 rating against CacaNito in 2026. We have to apologise to that one commenter - FenomeN would be an upgrade.
JiJieHao’s dub gave GamerLegion a red carpet straight into playoffs, and Tauson grabbed that sh-t with two hands. G2 became the second playoff qualifier after winning on the other side of the group, with a comfortable three-map win against BIG.
And despite that, r1nkle couldn’t get a rating above 1.00. Who’s really the new broky? Place your votes now.
Spirit saved face by humiliating Luminosity into last place, once again putting egg on the faces of the jack-sses who didn’t sign Gizmy. lux seems to agree, considering how hard it seems to be for the four ex-Gizzlers to fall in line.
The start of Group B went off without a hitch, as Falcons recovered from their Blast Bounty hiccup to win the group over Astralis, as FaZe shut down BetBoom and Legacy to join them.
The remaining openers were mostly without surprise, and today teams like Vitality, NAVI, MOUZ and FURIA will fight for a playoff spot. BetBoom versus NIP and 100 Thieves versus PARIVISION headlines the lower bracket later today as the teams fight to avoid finishing in last place.
And we’re putting it all on Mr. von Spreckelsen.

This week on Overtime on Inferno, Sam and Quacke spend a fair portion of the episode analysing a comment from the previous episode that states Deko should replace sh1ro.
Once they’re done educating the poor soul that produced that take, Sam and Quacke dig into 100 Thieves’ match against BC Game. For now it seems the debate over which project is superior has been settled…

Guys, you’re never going to believe it, but FaZe have signed Neityu.
Yeah, we know, he’s only been playing with them for half the year.
The Frenchman deserves it, honestly. Considering his roles, he’s been solid since he joined the team, offering up quiet impact and important clutches that have absolutely added to the sharp increase in results since karrigan departed the team Twistzz took the captain’s armband.
Sure, he might be a little uninspiring. Sure, he probably won’t be good enough to be on a true title contender anytime soon. But for a team that isn’t expected to make playoffs, and is still doing so whilst looking pretty comfortable, he’s solid.
He’s probably good enough for them to take the next step, too.
FaZe aren’t going to be held back by his performances in their quest for playoffs to become the minimum expectation; that will be jcobbb’s job, or simply losing JBOEN when his loan deal comes to an end.
Right at this moment, though, FaZe fans can, and should, be happy. Your team is back, and although we expect this honeymoon period may have a little blip in the coming months, they aren’t going back to the absolute sh-tshow they were prior to karrigan’s abandonment.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
