EPL S20 Grand Final
He did it. The curse is broken.
Aleksib has finally won a BO5, after seven consecutive losses, leading NAVI to a nail-biting 3-2 win over Eternal Fire at EPL Season 20.
And what a final it was. After an absolute banger in Cologne, EPL said ‘hold my molly’.
Following NAVI’s impressive journey to the final - sweeping their group and taking down Spirit and G2 in the Playoffs – it’s safe to say we were all surprised by how closely matched the series turned out to be.
EF caught NAVI off guard on the first map, Nuke, with woxic going off on the AWP, backed by Calyx’s solid support. It didn’t help that b1t, jL and iM struggled to make their mark, falling short in multiple crucial duels.
Anubis and Ancient followed, both tightly contested and ending 13-11 in NAVI's favor.
On Anubis, NAVI surged to a 6-1 lead thanks to iM's clutch plays, but EF rallied to level it at 9-9. Ultimately, NAVI clinched the win on the back of iM’s 1.87 rating, highlighted by this juicy moment.
Ancient mirrored the intensity, featuring back-and-forth rounds and jL started to find his rhythm with plays like this. NAVI pulled ahead 12-7 in the second half, but B1ad3’s boys felt the pressure and were struggling to close it out, scraping through to win the final round of regulation. Classic script.
Inferno told a different tale, with EF dominating NAVI 13-4, driven by woxic's impressive 1.88 rating and nasty AWP shots.
As for decider, we were left with Dust2 – a criminally unexciting setting to wrap up such a thrilling series.
Despite the sleeper map and after nearly four hours of CS, the fans were louder than ever as EF and NAVI traded rounds back and forth. In the end, experience prevailed, with jL delivering an unbelievable 3K that propelled NAVI all the way to victory.
Fueled by the passion of their fans both back home and in Malta, EF showcased some amazing CS and put on a show that they should be very proud of.
Oh, and the best part of it all… we got another B1ad3 Instagram post. Can’t beat those.
