Stage 2 • 0-3 teams
You didn’t fool us with that Stage 1 run, FlyQuest. Deep down, we all know you’re still sh-t. Just don’t look at our Pick’ems.
After a flawless opening Stage, the Aussies immediately set the tone for Stage 2 with two terrible performances against NAVI and 3DMAX - two matches where they managed just nine total rounds across both maps.
Then came the coughing baby vs. coughing baby elimination battle, where Astralis sent FlyQuest flying home with a sweep. jks was the only player who showed any signs of fighting back in their short-lived run.
Sure, the quality of opposition in Stage 2 is higher, but that’s still no excuse for a team that went 3-0 to crash out this spectacularly.
The other team that left Budapest without a single win was MIBR, playing their first real LAN with the ‘you-can-copy-my-homework-but-don’t-make-it-too-obvious’ lineup. kl1m and Qikert, better known as molodoy and YEKINDAR from TEMU, played their first big tournament together with the new org - and it went pretty much exactly how you’d expect.
Despite showing a bit of a fight in their opening matchup against Passion UA, they still ended up falling to JT and co. The second round only confirmed what everyone saw coming from miles away: a total stomp in the Brazilian derby, with Imperial tearing through MIBR and dumping them into the 0-2 group.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, Qikert said ‘hold my Rio medal’. In the first half of the elimination game against Liquid, he somehow finished with 0 ADR. Yes, z-e-r-o. He didn’t deal a single point of damage across 12 rounds. On Inferno, of all maps. How is that even possible?
In the end, it didn’t take long for Liquid to 2-0 MIBR - despite a rather close second map - conveniently just in time for them to join FlyQuest on the airport shuttle.
