Roobet and Thunderpick
There’s no second Major this year, so instead we have to be excited about events named after betting companies.
Layer in that we’re at a weird point in the timeline for Counter-Strike - with a new game being released, events seemingly slowing down and pros benching themselves - but the show must go on.
And if you want to talk weird… let’s talk about the fall of CSGO’s first El Classico.
fnatic and NIP were the giants at the start of the last game, and nothing outlines quite how far they’ve fallen than seeing them in the same group in both Roobet Cup and Thunderpick World Championship, and seeing them both in the bottom two in both.
Combined, they won six points - all six against each other. OG bagged wins against both in Roobet, while VP 2-1’d both in Thunderpick.
At least NIP have the excuse of being in transition, mind. fnatic have their full roster that they decided on a while ago.
Quite what is next for these two is hard to imagine. NIP are about to sign an IGL supposedly, but their sheer lack of firepower is going to be hard to make up. fnatic, meanwhile, have an IGL, and might just be better off without one entirely…
Elsewhere, Astralis got eliminated by Apeks and 9INE, Heroic fell in a rematch to Aurora and Spirit went out last in the Roobet Cup.
Spirit then dunked - or indeed, donk’d - on Complexity to win their opener in Thunderpick, Wildcard dropped a -30 round diff (in MR12!) and MOUZ dropped M80 in two.
Playoffs begin today in Roobet and run through Thursday while playoffs in Thunderpick kick off on Friday.
