Here's all you need to know about TLDR's partnership with GGReconl.
Hey there everyone, this is Phillip from TLDR and today I want to take you behind the scenes of our major publication (:D) and tell you a little bit about our newest partnership with GGRecon.
First things first, GGRecon are awesome. Not in the "hey we dump loads of money on you"-awesome, but "we love great content so much"-awesome. The first thing is cool and all, but at the end of the day, TLDR is a passion project for everyone involved, and partnering with people just for money isn't our thing.
Instead we love to work with partners that make a difference, solve a problem or, in this case, add something to the CS:GO and esports ecosystem.
GGRecon's value proposition
The value-proposition that we completely fell for was that GGRecon wants to do long-form content, because they believe in it. Solid writing, paying editors and piece together some of the stories that more mature publications in our space take for granted. Like this brilliant piece by aizyesque about why International rosters just can't seem to make it click.
Anyway, just because WE like their value proposition doesn't mean that you, the World's fastest readers, do. In fact, we were left with one important question when they approached us: How the fuck are we going to pitch long form content as an advertisement, in a newsletter dedicated to shortening stories?
What the partnership will look like
We actually forgot to reply to them at first, because we spent so much time trying to figure it out, but in the end we agreed that our readers are smart, and they like to be ever smarter. So here's what we're going to do:
- Each Friday in February, you'll see a native ad (that's what we call the big advertisement pieces we write) that promotes one of their articles. We're going to tell you in 2 paragraphs, why you should read it, and what we got out of reading it. Because we won't promote something we don't like ourselves.
- You will also see a bit more of their content on our social media, but only when we think it makes sense. If we don't want to read it, we don't think you will.
What can you contribute with?
Feedback! We love feedback, and so does GGRecon. Tell us if you like the partnerships we create, let us know if there are things we can do better, and if you know someone who would be a great fit, refer them to us. You can always hit reply to our emails or shoot them directly to [email protected].
If you check out GGRecon, let them know what you feel about their content and approach on Twitter - like us they're trying to figure out the things that works for them as they build out their platform.
